Speech by the delegation of Yemen

 Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

Dear Brothers Your Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies,
Dear brothers, distinguished heads of delegation,
Dear brother, the Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatuhu,

I am pleased at the outset to convey my deepest thanks and gratitude to my brother the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, king Abdallah Bin Abdelaziz for his kind invitation to host this Extraordinary Summit and for the excellent and generous hospitality extended to us. Fortunately, this Summit is being held in Makkah Al Mukarramah, the Divine Land of revelation and the cradle of Islam from which the Dawaa spread all over the world…

Dear brothers,

This Summit is being held in difficult and complex circumstances, which require a strong political will to meet all the challenges faced by the Islamic Ummah. We need first to further strengthen Islamic solidarity and make the joint Islamic action more efficient and improve its mechanisms and counter the unjust propaganda against Islam and Muslims.

Our religion Islam is the religion of right, justice, mercy, tolerance and balance and rejects fanaticism and extremism. On these grounds, we absolutely refuse to associate terrorism with Islam and Muslims and those who perpetrate terrorist acts are doing so in their name only and they have not any relation with the true religion of Islam.

To combat this international grave scourge, we must eliminate all the reasons and causes that are encouraging and inciting terrorism, such as poverty, unemployment and lack of international justice.

On these grounds, we reiterate our invitation to hold an international conference to define terrorism and tackle its causes. We also support the proposal of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to create an international center to combat terrorism.
Dear brothers,

The progress of the Islamic Ummah cannot be achieved without solidarity, joint Islamic action as well as a comprehensive reform of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, including its charter and its restructuring, and its name. For this reason we propose to announce at this Third Extraordinary Summit Conference and in the presence of the Leaders of the Ummah, namely the Kings and Heads of State and Government the establishment of the Islamic Union for a temporary four year period during which the Organization of the Islamic Conference will be restructured and a new charter will be established that would be compatible with the international changes. A budget will be devoted to this Union; each Member State will contribute to it according to its own national income.

We also propose the Chairman of the Extraordinary Summit Conference to be the President of the interim President of the Union.

Dear brothers,

In view of the current challenges that are facing our Islamic Ummah, we are compelled to bring our full support to the people of Palestine and contribute to enhancing its resistance. We affirm that a just and an unbiased peace cannot be achieved in the Middle East without the establishment of the State of Palestine on its national soil with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. We also call on the international community to commit itself to implement the relevant resolutions of the international legitimacy including the right to return for Palestinians.

We also call for the support of brotherly Somalia to enable it to establish peace and restore of its institutions so as to achieve stability and peace in its territory.

Once again, I would like to reiterate my thanks and gratitude to His Majesty, King Abdallah Bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the outstanding efforts he deployed to realize Islamic solidarity and to awake the Islamic Ummah from its deep slumber and for his generous and warm hospitality and the excellent arrangements he provided for the holding of this important Summit.

I would also to convey my thanks to my brother the Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdallah Badawi for his unrelenting efforts to consolidate joint Islamic action. I would like also to extend my thanks to His Excellency the Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference for his efforts to boost OIC action and serve Islamic causes.

I pray to God Almighty to guide our steps for the best of our Islamic Ummah and peoples and shower His blessings upon us.

Wa Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatuhu,
